More U.S. Muslims feel targeted by government
(AP) WASHINGTON — More than half of Muslim Americans in a new poll say government anti-terrorism policies single them out for increased surveillance and monitoring, and many report increased cases of name-calling, threats and harassment by airport security, law enforcement officers and others.
Still, most Muslim Americans say they are satisfied with the way things are going in the U.S. and rate their communities highly as places to live.
The survey by the Pew Research Center, one of the most exhaustive ever of the country’s Muslims, finds no signs of rising alienation or anger among Muslim-Americans despite recent U.S. government concerns about homegrown Islamic terrorism and controversy over the building of mosques.
Pew poll: Muslim Americans: No Signs of Growing Alienation, Support for Extremism
“This confirms what we’ve said all along: American Muslims are well integrated and happy, but with a kind of lingering sense of being besieged by growing anti-Muslim sentiment in our society,” said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Washington, D.C.-based Muslim civil rights group.

More U.S. Muslims feel targeted by gov’t
I am one of those people that has a lot to say about Islam and Muslims, I detest them, their so-called *religion* and everything about their 7th century ideology, and I make NO apologies for saying so.
Ibrahim Hooper is a very poorly informed leader, Muslims are NOT well integrated into American culture, and if there is a God in heaven, they never will be. There may be a growing anti-Muslim sentiment in our society, I hope so. It’s about time Americans woke up and realized this fact; Muslims are NOT our friends, Muslims are NOT our allies and Muslims have no desire to peaceably coexist with Christian or Jewish Americans.
“People contact us every day about concerns they’ve had, particularly with law enforcement authorities in this post-9/11 era,” he said.
After a particular group of people (Islamic terrorists) attack America and kill 2,996 people, on American soil, after that same group of people (Islamic terrorists) attack Christians and Jews the world over, and kill untold thousands of people, is it any wonder that Muslims are looked at suspiciously?
In all, 52 percent of Muslim Americans surveyed said their group is singled out by government for terrorist surveillance. Almost as many — 43 percent — reported they had personally experienced harassment in the past year, according to the poll released Tuesday.
That 43 percent share of people reporting harassment is up from 40 percent in 2007, the first time Pew polled Muslim Americans.
Out of curiosity, when was the last time ANY of you heard a story about a Muslim taking a stand AGAINST Islamic terrorists and made bold statements supporting America? Words are cheap, but some open demonstration of Americanism, and love of country, ours, would likely go a long ways towards changing a few minds.
I don’t care what the Muslims do in Muslim nations, but if they come to America then they need to become Americans and embrace American culture, as should ALL immigrants. Nothing makes me more nervous than to walk in somewhere and see burkas, full covering, being worn.
And the Muslims seek to force Sharia law on America?
Detroit — Opposition is mounting among Muslims against pending legislation that would ban Michigan courts from considering “foreign laws” — including Sharia, or Islamic law.
Muslim and community leaders gathered Tuesday in Midtown to denounce legislation from state Rep. Dave Agema, R-Grandville, as divisive, unnecessary and mean-spirited.
“This plan goes against our country’s core values of accepting people from all races and walks of life,” said state Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, who is Muslim. “We simply cannot move forward with this plan.
“It’s racism at its core.” SOURCE
Accepting people from all races and walks of life is one of our founding principles, but in that acceptance we accept YOUR right to worship as you see fit.
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
I, for one, can’t accept the demands that Muslims are making regarding their desire that Sharia law be applied here in the USA.
Is that racist? I don’t think so, and here’s why; go to an Islamic nation and get yourself arrested, demand that they accept American law and try you under American law, go ahead, try it and see what happens.
If Muslim *race baiters* like this Rep. Rashida Tlaib want to live their lives under Sharia law, well, OK, fine by me, go to a nation that subscribes to and enforces Sharia law, let us know how that works out for you.
Does that view make ME a racist? I don’t give a damn if it does because it’s only making me a racist in the eyes of some radical Muslim or a tree hugging, bleeding heart liberal that doesn’t have the GUTS to stand up for America and OUR way of life!
There is nothing short of TOTAL SUBMISSION that will make Islam happy, and even that isn’t enough, look at all of the attacks that Muslims make on their fellow Muslims.
Islam is going to hate us no matter what we do; WHY then do WE need to submit to THEIR wishes when those wishes and desires only take America further into the abyss of Third World status?
